Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn Stateassistant football coach who in June was convicted of 45 counts of sex abuse against boys, is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 9. Judge John Cleland, who presided over the trial and will handle the sentencing, released an order Monday saying that Sandusky will face a hearing to determine if he is a sexually violent predator at 9 a.m. Oct. 9. Sentencing will occur immediately following the hearing.

Sandusky has been held in Centre County Correctional Facility since his conviction. The 68-year-old is facing more than 400 years in prison.
