The third major lockout in sports in the last 18 months is underway. The NHL and NHL Players’ Association have no agreement in place for the 2013 season. Matter in fact the two have not even set up a committed face-to-face negotiations agreement meeting. If you recall this isn’t the first time the league has gone into a lock out back in 1992 the same thing occurred. Then the dispute which took place during the 2004-2005 season  forced the cancellation  of the entire season because the league  successfully held out for a salary cap. We are being told that there are no formal discussion planned yet to resolve the issue. The league issued a statement to fans on its website that it was “committed to negotiating around the clock to reach a new CBA that is fair to the players and to the 30 NHL teams.”
